Aaron Foster's Art
Okay, maybe I'm weird, but I absolutely love these! (I'm not able to create a link, but here is the website http://www.aaronfoster.com/base.html. I wanted to post pics, but I don't know how to get them on here.) They are incredible pieces of art made with old license plates. I LOVE the map of the United States, each state made with it's own plate. I really want to decorate a room with them. Anyway, thought I'd share with y'all. Have a wonderful day!

It's Been a Long Time...
...since my last post. I guess I would rather read someone else's blog than post to mine. And then there is that thing called facebook...
Enough of that. I'm sure everyone that reads my blog already knows that I had my baby - a month ago! I'm sure you have already seen pictures on fb, but I will post it all here anyway. Call me a proud mom.

Riley Andrew is born!

Grandma & Grandpa Baumgarte were there the whole time!

Rachel & Emily are excited to have a brother! (I don't know where Hayley is!)

Proud Daddy holding his son!

Isn't he cute?
Well, it's been a month since all of that! Riley is now all broken out with baby acne. I feel so bad for him! It doesn't bother him, but it bugs me! There is nothing I can do about it though. I just have to wait it out - it will go away on its own. Ugh.

Magnolia's Vanilla Cupcakes
Here is a cupcake recipe that is so yummy! I promised to post it on FB, but I will just post the link to here instead.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line two 12-cup muffin tins with cupcake papers.
In a small bowl, combine the flours. Set aside.
Using an electric mixer on medium speed, cream the butter until smooth in a large bowl. Add the sugar gradually and beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk and vanilla. With each addition, beat until the ingredients are incorporated but do not over beat. Using a rubber spatula, scrape down the batter in the bowl to make sure the ingredients are well blended. Carefully spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling them about three-quarters full. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted in the center of the cupcake comes out clean.
Cool the cupcakes in the tins for 15 minutes. Remove from the tins and cool completely on a wire rack before icing.
Vanilla Buttercream Frosting Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
6 to 8 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Frosting Directions:
Place the butter in a large mixing bowl. Add 4 cups of the sugar and then the milk and vanilla. On medium speed, beat until smooth and creamy, about 3-5 minutes. Gradually add the remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition (about 2 minutes, until the icing is thick enough to be of good spreading consistency. You may not need to add all of the sugar. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix thoroughly. (Use and store the icing at room temperature because icing will be set if chilled. Icing can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Half Way There
Wow! I can't believe that I am half way done with this pregnancy. It seems to be going by so fast! I am enjoying it. I feel really good. All is well. Thank you, Lord, for a wonderful last pregnancy! I am excited to see what it is (even though I KNOW it's a girl!) in a couple of weeks. I promise I will let every one know for sure as soon as we get the results. I am so glad I can enjoy this time and not wish it was over so quickly. It is so neat to have someone growing inside of you. What a miracle!

I have really good kids.
After I gave Emily and Hayley their lunch, I told them to go lie down when they were done eating. While I was eating lunch, I got on FB. I noticed it was quiet after some time. I just went to check on them and they are
fast asleep.
Wow. Thank God for my independently obedient kids!

She's got freckles on her...
Disclosure
(I hope no one is offended by the contents of this blog. It is in no way intended to do so. I just believe I need to give background before the story.)
Background
I had a warped childhood. Instead of nursery rhymes my mother taught us weird little sayings and songs, i.e., (poetically) "One bright day in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight. The deaf policeman heard this noise, came and killed those two dead boys. If you don't believe this lie is true, ask the blind man, she saw it, too." A song she taught us was, "She's got freckles on her, but (pun intended) she is pretty." Now remember, I am WARPED... I actually taught this "freckles" song to my oldest daughter (7) because she is at the age where she "gets it". We can sing it together and it is funny. She understands the humor. Unfortunately, I forgot that there are four other ears!
Funny Story
A few weeks ago, I wasn't feeling very good on a Wednesday night, so Tom took the girls to church and I stayed home. I was lying in bed when they walked in the door and Hayley said, out of the clear blue, "You got freckles on your butt, Mom." I laughed out loud! I know my 2 year old should not be saying "butt", however it was funny!
I hope someone got a chuckle out of this and that I am not disappointing anyone with my mothering!
You live and learn, right?

The house is so quiet!
The girls are at Grammy's. Tom is at work. Here I sit, missing them all. I guess I really do enjoy having my kids around! It is nice to have a break from the daily grind; it really makes you appreciate what you have. I am blessed to have my beautiful, sweet, precious, little monkies! I am going to enjoy the quiet for the next couple of days and then I will be so glad to have them home!
